Religious Education and Collective Worship

At Springwood we aim to teach Religious Education in an open way which encourages awareness of Christianity as the principle religion in Britain. We strive to enhance knowledge and understanding of some of the other main religions which exist in the modern world. Children will explore the beliefs and practices associated with Christianity, Hinduism and Judaism. Children will be encouraged to form their own opinions and beliefs and accept and value the ideas of other people.

Collective worship takes place every day at Springwood. Children are invited to take an active part in the reflection, response and reverence which happens during collective worship. Collective worship is mainly Christian in nature and is planned through Christian and moral themes. Through Collective Worship we aim to enhance the spiritual and moral development of all children as well as encouraging a caring and calm school ethos.

Parents have the right to withdraw their children from Collective Worship and/or Religious Education. If this happens, withdrawn children will be properly supervised in another area of the building. Please inform the school in writing if you wish your child to be withdrawn from collective worship.
