    World Book Day

This year, we celebrated World Book Day with the theme “Champions for Change,” inspired by the Little People, Big Dreams series. The children came dressed as people who inspire them, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere.

In Year R, we learnt about Amelia Earhart, Jane Goodall, Greta Thunberg, John Lennon and Beyoncé, and how they made a positive difference in the world. We discovered that they were all once children, just like us, who dreamed big and went on to change the world.

It was a wonderful day full of inspiration, learning and imagination!

    Woodland Walks

At Springwood, we are incredibly lucky to have our very own woodland, which plays a special part in our Early Years learning. Alongside our outdoor continuous provision, the children put on their wellies and enjoy regular woodland walks.

During these visits, we explore the natural environment using our senses, thinking about what we can see, hear and smell. This hands-on experience helps to deepen our understanding of the seasons and the world around us.

Our woodland walks provide a rich, engaging way for children to learn, explore and develop a love of nature from an early age.

    Continuous Provision

At Springwood, we recognise that play is a vital part of how children learn and develop. Through our continuous provision, children are encouraged to explore, create and follow their own interests in a carefully planned environment.

We support children to become independent by teaching them how to access and use resources themselves. For example, children are able to self-select materials and even mix their own paints, rather than being directed by an adult.

Our learning environment extends outdoors in all weather conditions. Whether wearing puddle suits and wellies or sun hats and sun cream, children enjoy the freedom to learn, explore and play throughout the year.
